Student Consumer Information

IPFW is affiliated with two of the nation’s finest higher education institutions, Indiana University and Purdue University. We are proud of this distinction and welcome inquiries about our programs and services. The following list contains a brief description of various important pieces of information about IPFW, Web sites to view this information, and the offices from which you may request the information. Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA)

The Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) affords students certain rights with respect to their educational records. They include the right to:

1. Inspect, review, and/or request an amendment to these records;
2. Consent to disclosures of personally identifiable information in these records;
3. Restrict disclosure of personally identifiable information designated as directory information that may be released without consent of the student; and
4. File a complaint with the U.S. Department of Education for alleged failure by IPFW to comply with FERPA requirements.

Financial Matters

Financial Aid

Descriptions of available federal, state, institutional, and outside sources of assistance, eligibility criteria, methods of disbursement, terms of loans, and employment opportunities are available on the Paying For College Web site and in various Financial Aid publications.

Study Abroad and Financial Aid

Students enrolled as regular IPFW students while on IPFW-administered and cosponsored study abroad programs are eligible for IPFW scholarships and financial aid. The Office of Financial Aid has written guidelines concerning financial aid for study abroad programs. Contact the Office of Financial Aid for more information.

Deferments for Performed Services

Borrowers in the Federal Stafford Loan Program may be eligible for deferred payment provisions for service in the Peace Corps, service under the Domestic Volunteer Service Act of 1973, or comparable volunteer services for tax-exempt organizations in community service. Borrowers should seek applications and detailed information from their lender.

Services & Facilities For Disabled Students

Services for Students with Disabilities, a division of the Office of the Dean of Students, arranges academic adjustments, auxiliary aids, and services for students with permanent or temporary disabilities. A student-services specialist works individually with a student to determine the most appropriate accommodations based on the student’s medical documentation and specific needs. Academic accommodations, auxiliary aids, and services are designed to assist students in obtaining equal access to course activities, materials, and evaluations. Athletic Program Participation Rates and Financial Support Data

Completion or graduation rates for students who receive athletically related student aid and the annual Equity in Athletics Disclosure Act Report that contains participation rates, financial support, and other information on men’s and women’s intercollegiate athletic programs is available via the Institutional Research website at http://ipfw.edu/offices/ir/consumer/.
