Student Success Program
The Student Success Program is designed to support Perkins eligible students by focusing on academic success workshops, academic coaching/mentoring, and career development.
Academic Success Workshops
Working with the Academic Success Center and other university partners, the workshops are designed to provide skill-building activities. The Steps to Success series focuses on Topics that lead to scholastic achievement anf the ultimate goal of graduation. Workshops include:
- I Never Learned How to Study: Where Do I Begin?
- Writing with P.I.E. (Point, Information, and Explanation)
- No More Stage Fright
- How to Engage Your Professor
Academic Support
As a Career and Technical Education (CTE) student in the Student Success Program, you'll benefit from the expertise of an academic coach and/or peer mentor. Academic coaches will offer resources or referrals to other university departments offering appropriate services.
Career Development
As a CTE student, you'll gain valuable experience that will impress employers by taking full advantage of workshops and other learning-related activities in cooperative education and internship/externship opportunities. You'll also interact with local professionals and develop mentoring relationships. ODMA facilitates this component in partnership with the Office of Career Services and Cooperative Education and Service Learning. Worksops include:
- Conquering the Job Market: The Art of Résumé Writing and Interviewing
- What Recruiters Look for on Résumés
- Transition Out of College—What's Next?

STEM STEPS to Success are activities that focus on improving students’ academic and social skills through student success workshops, learning communities, job shadowing opportunities, etc.

Expression to Profession BROCHURE
Career Academy (From Expression 2 Profession)
From Expression to Profession is a two-week summer enrichment program in collaboration with the Office of Career Services designed for high school students with an interest in career and technical education career fields. Thirty students will be exposed to interactive career readiness workshops; resume writing, video resume production, interviewing and effective communication techniques in the job-hunting process. The experience will include off-campus, hands-on activities to include job shadowing of CTE professionals, college readiness workshops.

Pathways to Success is an academic support endeavor designed for those CTE students from underrepresented gender groups in non-traditional fields (i.e., Women in Engineering, Women in Information Systems and/or Men in Nursing and Men in Dental Education).
Students who participate in Pathways will receive the following services:
- Academic Coaching
- Academic Monitoring
- Academic planning
- Degree audit
- Basic life skills
- Career development
- Professional/student mentoring
