IPFW has a firewall appliance that sits between the internet and IPFW servers and workstation. It is used to block unauthorized or malicious traffic while allowing legitimate traffic to pass.
To request changes to the firewall, please fill out the firewall change form.
IPFW restricts the following website categories from being accessed on the IPFW network:
- Botnets
- Confirmed spam sources
- Hacking
- Keyloggers
- Malware sites
- Phishing and other frauds
- Spyware
VPN stands for virtual private network. It is used at IPFW to protect data transmissions when connecting from an IPFW computer to Purdue West Lafayette or when connecting from off campus to IPFW systems.
NETWORK (VPN)
IPFW VPN connection is recommended for all faculty and staff requiring secure communications for enterprise applications.
Not doing so may put data you send to campus systems at risk.
