Accessing the Network

Students in housing can access the internet via wired and wireless connections.  Both require initial setup to connect.  Instructions and cables are distributed during move-in week.

Xbox 360 and Wii consoles can be connected to the wired network only. No special configuration is necessary. Other game consoles cannot be connected to the internet in housing at this time.

All IPFW students, faculty, and staff have access to the IPFW wireless network. The device must be wireless capable and be configured correctly in order to gain access. Instructions are in the IT Services Knowledge Base.

Most employee offices have one or more wired network connection (network drop) in them.  IT Services provides cables to connect university-owned PCs to the network.  Some locations on campus have very specific cable requirements so only cables provided by IT Services should be used.

Guests to the university can obtain a guest wireless account from:

• Library Service Desk - Helmke Library First Floor
• Warsaw Center - Warsaw Center Front Desk

Be sure to have your photo ID available. No hardware or software configuration is needed for guest access.
