Academic Ceremonies

When is Commencement?

Wednesday, May 15, 2013, 4 p.m., in the Allen County Memorial Coliseum Arena.

Who is eligible to attend the ceremony?

Students who completed degree requirements in December 2012.

Students who anticipate completing degree requirements in May 2013 or either summer session 2013.

Do we need tickets for the Commencement ceremony?

No tickets are necessary for the IPFW Commencement ceremony.

How do we know if we are graduating with honors?

Students graduating with honors and participating in the ceremony will receive a letter regarding honor cords from the Academic Ceremonies office in mid March.

A tentative listing of honors should be available in the Ceremonies office the second week of March. Students may also contact their academic dean or advising office.

When will we actually receive our diplomas?

December graduates will be notified by postcard when diplomas are available.

Diplomas for May graduates will be distributed immediately after the Commencement ceremony.  May graduates who do not attend the ceremony can pick up their diplomas in the Registrar's office (KT 107) beginning Monday, May 20.

Summer graduates will be notified by postcard when their diplomas are available.

Where do I get a cap and gown?

Caps and gown are available on line (January 2 through March 22) or through the IPFW bookstore (March 23 through April 19).  The bookstore will have a kiosk available to process on line orders.

What time do students need to be at the Coliseum?

Candidates for graduation are to line up by their department/degree sign in hallways of the Arena by 3:30 p.m. 

The signs include school, department, and degree.

Is there a rehearsal for students? How will we know what to do?

There is no rehearsal for students.

Faculty marshals will lead the students throughout the ceremony.

Read through the information sheet provided when you purchase your cap and gown, pay attention to the speakers, and follow the leader (your faculty marshal).
