Candidates from this year’s graduating class are invited to apply to serve as the Class of 2017 Representative. The Class Representative will be seated on stage and give the student response at IPFW’s Commencement ceremony.
Eligible candidates will:
To apply, submit a complete Class Representative application and a 300–450 word written draft of proposed Commencement remarks (approximately three minutes of spoken word) which express the speaker’s unique spirit and IPFW experience, highlight the speaker’s personal growth while at IPFW, and engage and provoke thought in fellow graduates.
Candidates will be screened on the basis of their application form and submitted draft. Finalists will be asked to participate in a short interview with the committee, present as a speech to the committee the submitted draft remarks, and confirm availability for Commencement, rehearsal, and any other needed speech rehearsals.
The committee will comprise representatives from the faculty, student affairs, alumni relations, and academic ceremonies and choose the class representative on the basis of academic achievement, campus activity and involvement, submitted remarks, and public speaking.
Class Representative applications are due by 5 p.m., Monday, February 20, 2017 and may be submitted by email to email@example.com or in person in the Office of Academic Ceremonies, Kettler Hall, room 157. Please direct questions to Kelly Shanks, Coordinator of Academic Ceremonies.
