CASA is supported by student tuition; services are provided at no additional cost to IPFW students who are currently enrolled.
Mission
The core mission of CASA is to help students within the IPFW community to achieve academic success. Specifically, the mission is to help "underprepared students to prepare, prepared students to advance, and advanced students to excel" (NADE - National Association of Developmental Education.)
We are located on the ground floor of Kettler Hall. Check us out.

Qualifications
- At least one satisfactorily completed semester at IPFW
- Campus credit (‘A’ or ‘B’)* for the subject area or equivalent course
- A recommendation(s) from a current professor will be needed
- A respectable GPA
Qualifications may vary by position.
Note: Tutors are hired throughout the semester while Math Test Center, Supplemental Instruction, and Writing Center employees are hired before the fall & spring semesters.
Positions Available
Math Test Center
Student workers much have successfully completed MA-22900 or MA-16500 before beginning employment. The following duties are expected of a Math Test Center employee:
- Proctor Tests
- Grade Exams
- Assist students in the classroom
- Review tests with students
Supplemental Instruction
Supplemental Instruction leaders must have taken the target class (math, chemistry, BIOL-100, 203, 204, etc), earned an A or B, and have an overall GPA of 3.0. Leaders are paid to attend the class again and hold 2 or 3 group study sessions a week.
Tutoring
Do you enjoy your classes and learning? Do you find yourself wanting to share what you have learned with others? Then please consider being a tutor. Tutoring is a peer program. Students need to have had the class, received an A or B, have the recommendation of the professor, and have a respectable GPA.
Writing Center
Writing Consultants must:
- have completed English W131 and W233 (or similarly intensive writing courses);
- maintain a 3.0 GPA
- be available for weekly staff development meetings

- fill out the interest form for CASA Student Employment or
- if interested in a tutoring, SI, or Math Test Center position, pick up an employment packet in Kettler Hall, Room G21 or G23.
- if interested in a Writing Center position, pick up an employment packet at the Writing Center in the Learning Commons, Helmke Library 2nd floor
