FORT WAYNE, Ind.—The next time you’re in a Fort Wayne Walgreens or Wal-Mart store, you’ll see something new: officially licensed Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Mastodons merchandise! In response to requests for official IPFW Mastodons gear to be available in more retail outlets in the Fort Wayne area, Athletics Director Tommy Bell and Strategic Marketing Affiliates (SMA), the university’s licensing agent, are pleased to announce partnerships with area Wal-Mart and Walgreens Stores.
"I am excited that IPFW has an opportunity to expand its brand throughout greater Fort Wayne with our quality merchandise becoming available at Walgreens and Wal-Mart locations around the area," said Bell. “Our alumni, students, staff, faculty, and all our fans can find a variety of brands and styles at the different locations. Both Walgreens and Wal-Mart have a tremendous presence in the Fort Wayne community and IPFW looks forward to building our partnerships with them."
"Working with our clients and merchants in their respective areas is one of the essential elements of SMA's responsibility to our partners. We are looking forward to continuing our efforts in conjunction with IPFW towards further expansion of the Mastodon brand,” added Tony Johnson, SMA senior vice president.
Walgreens district manager Keith Jacobsen is also pleased with the new partnership. "We at Walgreens are geared up to have IPFW merchandise for all Dons fans," he said. "IPFW is a great school and we are excited to team up with the university.”
Beginning October 15, all IPFW apparel purchased at Walgreens Drug Stores will include a voucher that can be redeemed at the IPFW ticket office for two tickets to any IPFW athletic event held at the Gates Center.
