IPFW Mental Health Day Features Free Mental Health Screenings, Workshops, and Information Fair

FORT WAYNE, Ind.—“Love Heals: The Power of Healthy Relationships” is the theme of the 2012 Mental Health Day on the campus of Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW), Thursday, Oct. 11. The campus community as well as the public at large is invited to learn how relationships affect mental health at two workshops and a panel discussion. All sessions are free and take place in the Walb Union Ballroom.

The day begins at 9 a.m. with mental health screenings and an information fair that continues until 4 p.m. on the first floor of Walb Union.

• 10–11 a.m.: “Love Shouldn’t Hurt,” presented by Candace Hall, a clinical counselor at the Women’s Bureau
• Noon–1 p.m.: “Love Heals: Stories of Childhood Sexual Abuse and Hope for Healthy Relationships,” panel presentation by Floie Stouder, IPFW/Parkview Student Assistant Program; Ronald Furniss, Family and Children Services; and Carly Thompson, Peer Health Educator
• 1:30–2:30 p.m.: “Anger Management,” presented by Beth Murphy Beams, Center for Nonviolence

IPFW’s Mental Health Day is sponsored by IPFW Health and Wellness Programs, IPFW/Parkview Student Assistance Program, Indiana–Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA), and Parkview Occupational Health.
