IPFW to Host 29th Annual Health Fair

FORT WAYNE, Ind. — The 29th annual Indiana University–Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) Health Fair: Live Well and Feel the Difference, will be held Wednesday, March 28, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. throughout Walb Union.

Dozens of free health screenings will be offered, including bone density, blood pressure, blood sugar, BMI, body fat, depression, foot, hearing, HIV, skin cancer, sleep, heart disease risk, sexual health, and spiritual health.

"Our goal is to improve the health of faculty, staff, retirees, students, and everyone in the community," said Judy Tillapaugh, director of wellness and fitness. "We are thrilled to be able to offer access to information, assessment and prevention programs, treatment facilities, and so much more in one place."

Blood health profile screenings will be done at a cost of $28 for the general public and $14 for university faculty, staff, students, and retirees. There will also be lipid and glucose screenings at a cost of $16 for the general public. There will be no charge for IPFW faculty, staff, students, and retirees.

More than 100 health education booths will be set up at the fair. There will be nutritious cooking presentations, refreshments, and gift drawings. There will also be information and performances promoting wellness, including various ways to de-stress your life through therapy dogs, yoga, fitness, music, art, and gardening.

The event is free and open to the public.

The Health Fair is sponsored by the College of Health and Human Services; Center for Healthy Living: Campus Clinic and Wellness Programs; Human Resources and Office of Institutional Equity; Department of Athletics; Peer Educator Program; Nursing Department; Indiana–Purdue Student Government Association (IPSGA); and STAR 88.3.
