Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW) has launched a bold academic initiative. By re-imagining our academic future, we can fully realize our strategic vision of becoming "a nationally recognized university known for its regional impact." At the same time, we will become an innovative national model for undergraduate education designed to meet 21st-century challenges.

Red Balloon Project at IPFW
IPFW has joined the American Association of State Colleges and Universities' (AASCU) "Red Balloon Project." AASCU comprises more than 430 public comprehensive universities nationwide. IPFW is proud to be one of 25 AASCU institutions represented on the Red Balloon Provost Steering Committee. UC2—University Community Conversation
The College of Arts and Sciences will host a year-long series of community conversations exploring the "Promise and Problems of Democracy." The series will encourage the use of digital and social media to initiate, expand, and sustain conversations between IPFW and the community on a wide range of topics that examine the history, current status, and future of democracy. In the spring the college will promote book discussions, online conversations, and a major public event (date to be determined). Additional programming will sustain the UC2 series throughout the summer and fall.

Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP) at IPFW
IPFW's Baccalaureate Framework was inspired by the Association of American Colleges and Universities' (AAC&U) Liberal Education and America's Promise (LEAP) initiative. We are now an active participant in the LEAP Campus Action Network, and in so doing have joined a nationwide conversation on the educational outcomes that will best prepare our students to meet 21st-century challenges.
