Homecoming Logo Contest

The winner of this year's Homecoming Artwork Contest is Khin Khin Gyi, Senior Graphic Design Major. 

She will receive:

  • Framed copy of her artwork.
  • Copies of all printed promotional items.
  • Artwork displayed with acknowledgement in Kettler display case.
  • Acknowledgement at the tailgate party at the Coliseum on Saturday, December 1, 2012

Hall Decorating Contest

Open to all university departments and offices

Show your IPFW Spirit by decorating your department's walkways, windows, walls, and doors! Dress the place up with a tribute to this year's Homecoming theme ("Feel The Rumble!"), IPFW itself, and our blue and white colors. Let's paint the campus Blue and White!

Department registration will begin on Friday, October 26, 2012.  Final registrations must be received  by Monday, November 19, 2012 in the Student Life Office in Walb Union room 210.

Entries compete in one of two divisions based on the size of your department: 15 or more, and less than 15.

Department (or department team) decorations will be judged in several categories:

  • Use of the Homecoming theme ("Feel The Rumble" (50 points)
  • Use of the Mastodon and university logos (50 points)
  • The sport of basketball ( 25 points)
  • The use of basketball players and coaches, players and opponents ( 25 points) 

Judges will visit departmental areas on Wednesday, November 28th to determine the winner. The winning department will be announced on Saturday, December 1st at the tailgate party in the Expo room between games. Each department that participates will be issued 10 tickets to the Homecoming game (furnished by Athletics), and each member of the participating department will get the official Homecoming t-shirt, 10 shirts maximum (furnished by IPSGA).

Staff/Faculty Subway Challenge

Open to all university faculty & staff.

The Subway Challenge will take place during the Pep Rally during Homecoming Week. 

Each participating department must have a team of two people and each team member must alternate between shots. Each team will have 30 seconds to score the most points: a) lay-ups are worth 1 point, b) shots made inside the 3 point line are worth 2 points, and c) shots made outside the 3 point line are worth 3 points. The team with the most points wins a 6-foot sub (for their department) from Subway.

Student Orgs. - Spirit Sheet Sign Contest

Open to all officially recognized student organizations

Your student organization can earn big bucks by participating in the Spirit Sheet Sign Contest. The top three Spirit Sheets earn prize money for your student organization.

To register for the contest and receive your ready-to-decorate sheet, contact the SORC Office in the IPSGA Suite in Walb Union, Room 225 481-6637(second floor).

Decorate your sheet to promote your organization, IPFW School Spirit, and this year's Homecoming theme, "Feel The Rumble!"

Decorating supplies are available to you courtesy of IPSGA/SAB and Student Life and may be checked out. Student organizations will present their sheets at the Pre-game Reception on Sunday at the Memorial Coliseum and the winners will be announced at the game.

Guidelines for Sheet Signs:

  • Your sheet must include the name of your student organization.
  • Sheet signs must not contain any graphic images or offensive language
  • Your organization must make an ADVANCE reservation with Student Life when using the second floor lounge to decorate your sheet or use the SORC area. (Don't just "show up" -- reserve the space through Student Life or SORC office.)
  • You must cover areas with newspaper or plastic before painting.
  • All painting supplies must stay in the SORC office.
  • Clean up after your mess in the SORC after decorating the sheet (room, brushes, etc.).
  • At least one representative from your organization must be present at the Homecoming tailgate party to display your sheet and accept the organization's prize if you win.
  • Sheets are available at no cost from the Student Life Office SORC.

Deadlines:

  • September 24, 2012 - Sheets will be available for Student Orgs to pick up.
  • October 29-November 16, 2012 Space available in the SORC for decorating
  • November 16, 2012 Sheets are due for judging by 5:00 p.m.
  • Winners announced at the tailgate party on Saturday, December 1, 2012.
