The Community Arts Academy (CAA), a division of the College of Visual and Performing Arts (VPA) at IPFW, offers a wide range of instruction in art, music, theatre and dance for students in grades pre-K-12. Taught by IPFW faculty members, professional artists and advanced IPFW university students, classes focus on the artistic process, encouraging culturally enriching opportunities for enjoyment as well as advanced study in the arts. The CAA is recognized as a broad-based arts alternative, supplementing traditional school classroom arts instruction. By sharing the same facilities utilized by university students, the program acquaints students and their families to the accessibility and benefits of the university environment on the Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne campus. Students study art, music, theatre and dance in a positive, supportive environment.
Quality teaching is the highest priority of the CAA. The instructors, experts in their arts fields, are comprised of IPFW faculty or outstanding community arts teachers. A few are selected IPFW arts majors who teach under faculty supervision.
Most classes and private instruction take place on the IPFW campus during the week or on Saturdays of the spring and fall semesters. A variety of summer classes and exciting camps is also available. Please peruse this site for class listings and registration information or contact the CAA at 260-481-6059 or hainesmd@ipfw.edu for additional information and to be placed on our mailing list.
