Scholarship Information
Thank you for your interest in scholarships at IPFW. The Financial Aid Office administers a wide variety of scholarships annually for students from many sources within the university as well as from organizations and businesses outside of IPFW. The IPFW scholarship application process begins with the common scholarship application. The preferential scholarship application deadline for 2012-13 was February 1, 2012. Students may still apply in case some scholarships are not awarded to the preferential applicants.New freshmen for 2012 are encouraged to apply even though the preferential deadline is passed." Students must also complete a 2012-2013 FAFSA by March 10th.
Scholarship awards are non-negotiable and criteria are subject to change without notice.
How to Apply
These web pages list university scholarships administered by the IPFW Financial Aid Office and the external scholarships awarded by outside organizations. All awards are dependent on availability of funds each year.
Scholarships generally fall into two categories: need-based and merit-based.
Need-based scholarships are awarded based on financial need as calculated by the formula applied to the data you submit on your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The resulting figure is your Estimated Family Contribution, also called the EFC. The lower a student's EFC, the more financial need the student has, and the lowest EFC is 0.
Merit-based scholarships are based on many criteria, most important is exceptional academic performance. Other factors considered may include community involvement, leadership, or field of study. Each scholarship will provide information about applying and the application needed.
IPFW University scholarships require the IPFW Common Scholarship Application Some scholarships may have additional requirements. Dollar amounts awarded for these scholarships also vary.

Keep these points in mind:
- You should not have to pay a fee to apply for a scholarship. Be wary if any scholarship asks for this; it may be a scam.
- Scholarships which specify "demonstrate financial need" require a new or renewal FAFSA.
