Careers in CNET

CNET graduates are employed in all areas of the building industry, including construction, architecture, interior design, civil engineering, land surveying, and state, county, and city governments.

The program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology. It provides you with problem-solving skills, hands-on competency, and required state-of-the-art technical knowledge. Alumni of the department are employed in all areas of the building industry, including construction, architecture, interior design, civil engineering, land surveying, and state, county, and city governments.

Degree Program

The Bachelor of Science (B.S.) program is open to students who have earned an Associate degree in Architectural Engineering Technology (ARET) or Civil Engineering Technology (CET), or the equivalent. Concentrations provide opportunities to prepare yourself for work in a specific segment of the construction industry. You may choose options in architectural engineering technology, civil engineering technology, or construction engineering technology.

Student Organizations

There is an active chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers at IPFW. Dr. Elizabeth Thompson advises IPFW's student chapter of SWE: Society of Women Engineers.

Scholarships

The ETCS Scholarships are open to all full-time or part-time majors in the College. You must have a GPA of at least 3.0, and incoming freshmen are eligible. The size and number of these scholarships vary from year to year.

• The deadline is March 1.
• The Professor Lloyd W. Smith Scholarship is open to part-time or full-time students working on a degree in ARET, CET, or CNET who show merit and/or promise in that area.
• The American Society of Professional Estimators Scholarship is open to students majoring in ARET, CET, or CNET.
• The Arthur W. Schenkel Memorial Scholarship is open to CNET full-time students with a high GPA.
• The Northeast Indiana Engineer's Society $1000 Scholarships are open to sophomores and juniors in a curriculum leading to a B.S. in Engineering Technology or Engineering. The student must have graduated from a northeast Indiana high school.
