Mission Statement

The IPFW Center of Excellence in Systems Engineering supports the continued development of the university through a pair of functional requirements:

• Offer IPFW students an education in Systems Engineering that enables the student to lead enterprise change and develop superior products.
• Provide the industries and enterprises of Northeast Indiana with the Systems Engineering leadership and research facilities to sustain and grow their businesses.

Vision of the Center

Through its programs, the Center of Excellence molds complete Systems Engineers. Their success depends on understanding three interconnected concepts:

Systems:
A system is a collection of components working together to achieve a common goal. Systems Engineers must design for the purpose of meeting customer needs.

Enterprise:
An enterprise is a complex system itself. Systems Engineers must provide a structure that allows their design to succeed.

Leadership:
Leaders provide the common vision for system development, implementation, and use. Systems Engineers must be the ambassadors of their design.

Goals Moving Forward

The Center of Excellence strives to live up to its mission and has set goals which measure how effectively it achieves its functional requirements:

• Receive national recognition for IPFW’s Systems Engineering programs.

• Develop state-of-the-art laboratories which are involved in continual engagement with students and industry.
