eNetworking Purpose and Principles

eNetworking is an asynchronous, primarily text-based and convenient mode of communication for connecting IPFW General Studies Program alumni to current students.

The goal of eNetworking is to foster a caring and supportive partnership for:

  • Developing students’ vision for the future
  • Developing active community partnerships
  • Facilitating regular and consistent contact between partners
  • Improving identification with the university
  • A resource network including information, referral and support services from the General Studies’ staff and other IPFW personnel
  • Guidelines for participants for getting the most out of the mentoring relationship
  • A kick-off event to increase level of commitment

The monitoring process includes:

  • Follow-up and evaluation
  • A newsletter or other supportive mailings to participants
  • Volunteer opportunities beyond eNetworking
