General Studies

General Studies Degree Program is designed for students who wish to customize their own degree programs. You may take courses in a broad range of subjects to tailor-fit your course work to personal interests, goals, or career needs. General Studies graduates have used their degree to pursue further study and careers in areas such as business, public relations, medicine, law, education, and social work.

What makes the General Studies Program so flexible?

  • Convenient classes fit student schedules.
  • After admission to the program and completion of 12 credit hours, credit may be given for competencies gained through documentable life experiences.
  • Credit also can be acquired for the following:
    • courses taken at other accredited institutions
    • military service
    • CLEP (College Level Examination Program)
    • approved training programs offered through the American Council on Education

Students are encouraged to incorporate minors into their bachelor's program. Popular choices include minors in business, communications, organizational leadership and supervision, psychology, and sociology. Credits earned do not expire and there is no time limit for completion of a General Studies degree.
