The Department of Music is housed in the beautiful John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center on the north end of the IPFW campus, adjacent to Williams Theatre and the Visual Arts Building. Opening its doors in the fall of 2007, this 110,000 square feet facility is home to more than 150 music majors and a number of community arts groups.
Rhinehart Music Center (RMC) features a spectacular and acoustically gratifying 1600-seat auditorium and an acoustically superb 250-seat recital hall. RMC has 25 practice rooms (some “over-sized” to accommodate grand pianos, multiple pianos, percussion equipment or small ensemble rehearsals), 24 faculty studios, two general classrooms, one music education classroom which simulates an elementary school music classroom, a music technology lab, a piano lab, two rehearsal halls, a large and visually appealing conference room, a small conference room, a three-office administrative suite, a faculty workroom and an office suite for independent community arts organizations. There is a recording studio which is linked to both performance spaces, both rehearsal halls and to four practice rooms. The building is exceptionally functional with exceptional sound isolation.
Located in the newly remodeled Athletic Center in room 126 the box office is conveniently located inside the main doors across from the Fitness Center Check-in Desk. The IPFW Ticket Office is the home base of the daily operations.
