Master of Liberals Studies (M.L.S.) students create their degrees from three different types of courses among the 30 credit hours required to complete the degree. Liberal Studies students take a seminar in each of the three core areas (Humanities, Social Sciences, and Science) and complete a further seminar or an individual project for a total of 12 to 15 credit hours.
For the remaining 15-18 credit hours, Liberal Studies candidates can choose among any of the graduate courses offered from the College of Arts and Sciences.
The wide selection of courses and flexibility of the degree requirements makes it much easier for students to create their own degree and tailor it to their particular skills and interests than in more traditional Master's degree programs.
To earn an M.L.S., students must complete the following requirements, earning a grade of B or better in each course applied to the degree.
