2) The Basic Skills (Praxis I) tests are required for admission into the Teacher Education programs.  You should take the PPST in your sophomore year!

3) The Specialty Area (Praxis II) tests are required for receiving your initial teaching license.  Successful completion of Specialty Area tests corresponds to your major area.  You should take the Specialty Test(s) prior to your student teaching semester!

4) Middle school tests are for the Rules 2002 Early Adolescent Generalist license; therefore, these tests may not be used for individuals licensed at the high school level.

5) Teachers under Rules 2002 wishing to obtain an original license in Middle School core contents areas of Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and/or Social Studies must take the Praxis II exam in each of the middle school areas they wish to become licensed.

6) If you have attempted and failed one or more portions of the Praxis I (PPST) you may utilize the FREE online tutorial study program known as PLATO by contacting the College of Education and Public Policy for a training session at 260-481-6449.

7) To register for a Praxis exam, register on-line through ETS at www.ets.org/praxis. If taking the test at IPFW, mark IPFW (1336) as your chosen testing site as well as a Score Report recipient. Computerized testing takes place in Testing Services at Kettler Hall 232, 260-481-4153. Hours of operation are T-F 8:30-5:00 and Sat. 8:00-12:30.

9) If taking the Elementary Education: Multiple Subjects test for the first time, you may register for the 5031 exam. This is four exams in one. You must pass all four sections. If you fail any sections of the exam, you may register to repeat any section individually.

10) You will be able to access your Praxis score reports online.  On-Line score reports are downloadable and available for 45 calendar days from the score reporting date.
