Program Information

The M.S.Ed. program in Educational Leadership blends elements from well-grounded theoretical perspectives with innovative practices in the preparation of educational leaders for entry-level positions in educational organizations. Within the program, attention is directed to:

  • Professional interest and development of each student;
  • The technical, interpersonal, and conceptual skills required of administrators and supervisors;
  • The responsibilities of educational administrators as both instructional leaders and organizational managers.

The goals of the Educational Leadership program are to develop educators to:

  • Possess the skills and knowledge to make effective decisions, manage organizations, and motivate and lead people so that organizational and personal goals are met;
  • Have the intellectual, personal, and professional preparation to provide service to diverse communities through productive work;
  • Communicate effectively in speech and writing;
  • Have command of and contribute to the body of knowledge reflecting research and theory in the field;
  • Implement IPSB administrative standards.

Most classes meet one evening per week, beginning at 4:30 and 7:30 p.m. Summer courses are offered in three- and six-week blocks with courses available during both a.m. and p.m. The program offers courses as evening and weekend classes to enable students to use their time on campus effectively.
