Opportunities for Students

• The Cooperative Education program is highly recommended for business majors. Students earn wages at a rate usually higher than most part time jobs, but most importantly gain valuable experiences that build a strong resume. Students who participate in Co-op have a very high career placement rate.
• Cooperative Education also offers the Lilly Entrepreneur Scholars Internship Program gives students stipends for working part time in start up companies. For more information, please contact the Co-op office.

• Each year the top students (chosen by GPA) are invited to participate in a special course, BUS D490: Special Studies in International Business. Students will work with a local company that is interested in breaking into the international market. Students will research the company and a country. They will travel to the country to do research for the local country and upon return make a presentation to the company.
• The Korean Economy and Culture (ECON E477) introduces business students to the Korean economy, language, and culture. The purpose is to increase students’ knowledge of Korean economy and culture so that they can engage in more effective economic activities with Korea and Asian countries. This course emphasizes the importance of appreciation for cultural diversity, especially the importance of understanding cultural and historical contexts in different countries as they shape economics and business. Course learning includes campus based meetings for economic and cultural study during Summer semester, a two week intensive study abroad experience in Korea, and debriefing sessions after return to the United States. Approximately 10 students will be selected to participate each year. They may be at the undergraduate or graduate level and they must be business or economics majors enrolled in business courses.

• National Student Exchange is a program that allows you to spend time at another campus in the United States while still paying IPFW tuition. Contact Allison Hoff in ACCS for more information.

Ecole de Management (EM) in Grenoble France offered a student exchange program with SBMS. Under the agreement, EM will provide tuition support for one SBMS MBA student for one semester of study in Grenoble. The agreement was struck in late 2005.
