How does IPFW’s program rank relative to other MBA programs in the area?
IPFW offers the only Big-Ten degree in Northeast Indiana - students earn an internationally recognized MBA from Indiana University. In addition, our program is the only program in the area accredited by AACSB-International. Only 10% of MBA programs, worldwide, posses this highest level of accreditation.
What university is the degree from?
Students who complete the MBA program will earn their degree from Indiana University.
When do classes start?
A new cohort of students begins the program every August.
I don’t have a Bachelor’s degree in Business – should I apply for this program?
Yes! Students take 11 classes, regardless of their educational background.
What is the application deadline?
Priority deadline is March 1, 2013. Applications will then be accepted on a space available basis until May 16, 2013. International students are encouraged to apply by March 1st.
What constitutes a complete application?
A completed application consists of the application (completed online at www.ipfw.edu/mba), an educational objectives statement, official transcripts from every college or university attended, two recommendations, and an admissions interview.
Do I need to take the Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) for admission?
No! Students are not required to take the GMAT for admission into the Accelerated MBA program.
What transcripts should I submit?
Official transcripts are required from all Universities/Colleges you have attended – including those institutions where you may have only taken one class.
How are admission decisions made?
Class sizes are small and admissions decisions are competitive. At a minimum, candidates will posses a bachelor’s degree and three years of related work experience. In addition, the Graduate Policy Committee considers a number of characteristics including management, leadership, creativity, maturity, initiative, and organizational and administrative skills.
What is the total cost of the program?
Indiana residents: Tuition for the Accelerated MBA program for 2012-2013 was $607.24/credit hour for Indiana residents. The total program cost for Indiana students entering the program in August 2012 and completing by June 2013 was $20,038.70. These fees included textbooks delivered directly to students’ homes.
Out-of-state students: Tuition for the Accelerated MBA program for 2012-2013 was $1,004.24/credit hour for out-of-state students.
Tuition for 2013-2014 will be confirmed prior to the August 2013 start and is subject to change.

How many credits are in the program?
The Accelerated MBA program consists of 11 classes for a total of 33 credit hours.
How long does it take to complete the program?
11 months – classes start in August with completion in June of the following year.
Why is Orientation required?
Orientation is required to enhance student success.
When do classes meet?
Classes meet on Friday nights from 6:00 – 10:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 8:00 – 5:00 p.m. (with a break from 12:00 – 1:00 p.m.).
Do classes meet every weekend?
Completing an AACSB-International accredited program in only 11 months is an aggressive schedule. As such, classes meet every Friday night and Saturday. No classes meet the weekends of Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years, Easter, and Memorial Day.
How many classes do I take at a time?
During the first three quarters (called components), students take three classes. During the last component, students take two classes.
Is a thesis required?
No – the Accelerated MBA program consists of 11 courses – no thesis is required prior to completion.
Is it possible for me to take only one course per semester in this program?
No – however, if you are interested in a less accelerated model, you may be interested in IPFW’s MBA+ program. Information on this program can be found at www.ipfw.edu/mba.
What type of class work can I expect?
Throughout their studies, students might complete individual and group work, projects, case study analysis, presentations, take-home and in-class exams. How students are graded and assessed will vary from class to class.
I’ve been out of school for awhile – will I be able to take part in this program?
Yes, many returning adult students find they are anxious about returning to school after many years. However, students soon find that many classmates are in the same situation and the support these classmates provide is invaluable.
What is a cohort?
The term cohort refers to the group of students who progress through a program together. Cohort based scheduling allows for the building of lasting relationships and extensive networking among students.
