To enhance the economic development of the Northeast Indiana Region, and to provide our students hands-on opportunity to engage with the community, the Doermer School of Business has established the following centers:

The purpose of the Business Enterprise Systems and Technology (BEST) institute is to inform, educate and help existing companies, and to attract new businesses and industries, by creating a center for knowledge management and networking for all the companies in Northeast Indiana. It provides year-round seminars in advanced technology, lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, green supply chain management, enterprise resource planning, E-commerce, and RFID technology applications. 

The Center for Economic Education is established to promote the teaching of economics in grades K-12 throughout Northeast Indiana’s nine counties. The Center provides a website contains information and links that will be helpful to those teaching economics in grades K-12.  It sponsors workshops that showcase the best practice in economics education, disseminate newest pedagogy, and inform recent development in economic issues and policies.

The Institute for Pension Plan Management is a collaborative effort of IPFW, American Society of Pension Professionals and Actuaries, and national leaders in the pension industry. The objective of the Institute is to provide training programs to pension professionals and to advance research education in pension plan management. The institute has developed several online training classes for ASPPA and formed collaborative relationships with Nyhart in Indianapolis.

As one of the affiliated office of the Indiana Small Business Development Center, the Small Business Development Center provides assistance to new and existing small business located in the Northeast Indiana area.  Small businesses can request to meet with a business advisor, one on one, at no charge to them. Along with counseling, the center offer workshops at very minimal fees, on site internet access as well as a resource library.
