Study silver brazing, metal stretching and forming by hand, using polished hammers and casting. All skill levels are welcome and all tools, studio equipment and materials are included.&nbsp;Please note that students will use metalsmithing equipment such as acetylene torches, hammers, saws and files.&nbsp;The activities involved in this class will be under the direct supervision of IPFW staff, and the safety of participants will be our primary concern. Daily activities will include group sessions, individual lessons, Alexander technique and music theory classes, supervised practice and a variety of workshops and lectures. Performance opportunities include master classes and recitals. Evening activities will include faculty and guest artist recitals. The camp is for intermediate and advanced students, ages 12-18, and includes both a residential and a commuter option.&nbsp;There is no geographic restriction for attendance at this camp. Students from all areas are welcome to attend.</p> <p>All camp activities will take place on the campus of Indiana University - Purdue University Fort Wayne (IPFW). IPFW is a Carnegie Community Engaged University that awards Indiana University bachelor&rsquo;s degrees in music. The camp will be held in the recently built John and Ruth Rhinehart Music Center, a facility that provides an ideal learning environment as well as excellent rehearsal spaces, studios and performance halls. Recitals and master classes will be held in Rhinehart Recital Hall, an acoustically superb performance space. Ample practice facilities are available, including a number of rooms with grand pianos.</p> <p>The 2013 featured guest artist will be&nbsp;<a target="_blank" href="http://new.ipfw.edu/departments/cvpa/caa/2013-judges.html#more1">Caio Pagano&nbsp;</a>an internationally renowned concert pianist, teacher and scholar. He will be performing a solo recital and presenting a piano master class for camp participants. Pagano has been a distinguished professor of piano at Arizona State University since 1986.</p> <p>Pianist&nbsp;Elsie Johnson&nbsp;will be this year's "emerging artist." She is a 2010 IPFW graduate (B.M., Piano Performance) and will earn a double master's degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy from Butler University in May 2013.
