Transfer Students

Know what your options are.

At IPFW, there are different categories of transfer students based on what institutions you attended previously:

• Indiana or Purdue University Intercampus Transfer Students
• Transfer Students from Other Colleges or Universities

IU or Purdue Intercampus Transfer Students

If you’re a transfer student from within the IU or Purdue campus-wide systems, you’re known as an “intercampus transfer student” and classified as either temporary or permanent.

Permanent Intercampus Transfer Students

If you’re currently attending (or have attended) another IU or Purdue campus and want to transfer permanently to IPFW, please submit the following:

• Application for Undergraduate Admission
• An unofficial transcript from your IU or Purdue campus
• Official transcripts from any college attended since your enrollment at IU or Purdue
• No application fee is due
• Permanent intercampus transfer students may be eligible for financial aid

Temporary Intercampus Transfer Students

If you're currently attending (or have attended) another IU or Purdue campus and want to transfer temporarily to IPFW, please submit the following:

• Application for Undergraduate Admission
• An unofficial transcript from your IU or Purdue campus
• Official transcripts from any college attended since your enrollment at IU or Purdue
• No application fee is due
• Temporary intercampus transfer students are not eligible for financial aid

Transfer Students from Other Colleges or Universities

If you've attended college, but not with the IU or Purdue campus-wide system, and want to transfer to IPFW as a degree-seeking student, please submit the following:

• Application for Undergraduate Admission
• High school transcript or General Educational Development (GED) scores
• Official transcripts from all colleges attended
• $50 application fee

Note: Academic departments may review courses and transfer credits from institutions not holding regional accreditation.

• Regular admission to a major requires a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above at the most recent college
• Admission with recommendations to a major requires a cumulative GPA of 2.3-2.49 with a C- or above in college English and math
• Admission with conditions to the Mastodon Advising Center (MAC) requires a cumulative GPA of 2.0-2.29 with a C- or above in college English and math
• If your cumulative GPA is less that 2.0, you will be referred to the IPFW—Ivy Tech Crossroads Program

Admissions Appeal Process

To appeal an admission decision the applicant must submit a written statement to the Admissions Appeals Committee explaining how, regardless of past academic record, he or she is prepared to be successful in university studies. The statement must be typed and no longer than one page. Student name, mailing address and contact information should be included. The decision of the committee will be sent in writing and is final.
